Summer: If you are closer to the ocean it is going to be more cooler on the land. Vancouver is closer to the water than Abbotsford is so Vancouver is colder. Weather Affects Non-Living Things
It affects by freezing rocks and the rocks break into pieces. It affects mountainsides by creating avalanches and water erodes riverbanks. The movement from rocks and soil from one place to another is called erosion. Erosion washes away soil little by little in gentle rain.

Weather Affects Living Things
Plant Adaptations: In spring: When plants grow they die in Winter. Other plants grow for more than a year but many are dormant in the Winter. Dormant means the plants don’t grow. Animal Adaptations: Animals migrate and hibernate but not all animals migrate or hibernate in the winter. Hibernation means they go to sleep but before they go to sleep they eat a lot of food. Migration means some animals migrate to a warmer place to stay for the winter.

Extreme Weather - Drought
Drought is when there is no rain for a long time. When there is not a lot of rain the plants will die. The lack of water is also hard on wild plants and on wild animals. It affects animals because they need to grow things for food and shelter.
