Promote resident comfort and dignity
Prevent spread of infection

Maintain regulatory compliance
Provide comfortable and relaxing environment (for resident, families, staff)

5. Housekeeping: Whose Role Is It Anyway? 5
Nursing Staff: Registered Nurses (RN)
Environmental rounds (routine and as needed)
Ensure nursing assistants complete special assignments
Coordinate with housekeeping services (EVS)
Coordinate with engineering department (for environmental repairs)

Nursing Staff: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Environmental rounds (routine and as needed)
Replace suction canisters and tubing (routinely and as needed)
Ensure nursing assistants complete special assignments
Report any environmental damages (holes, broken door handles, hinges)

Nursing Staff: Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)
Remove dirty equipments (wedges, splints, side rail pads, commode, etc)
Complete special assignments

Cleaning of physical environment
Cleaning of equipments (non-medical) and furnishings

Environmental rounds to assess damages that need repair (holes, broken hinges, chipped paint)

Replace suction equipment with clean canister and suction tubes daily after activity hours
Coordinate with nursing staff, EVS, and engineering department as needed
