Bell Ringer 12-2-16 1. What are the six trig functions?
2. What are the possibilities for the x and y coordinates of “special” angles in the unit circle? 3. In what quadrants are each of the trig values positive? 4. What does “solve a right triangle” mean?

3
The Unit Circle in the Coordinate Plane
Yesterday we found the coordinate points of “special” angles.
4
What if we have a coordinate point?
Example #1
5
Quadrantal angles Quadrantal Angles are angles with a terminal side on an axis. Example #2
6
Reference angles A reference angle is the acute angle between the terminal side of an angle and the x-axis. 30˚ is “like” 150˚ is “like” 210˚ is “like” 330˚ because they ALL have a reference angle of 30˚
7
Example #3
8
Use one trig function to find others
Example #4
9
When are the trig values positive and when are they negative?
Just remember: If you want someone to be positive, Add Sugar To Coffee.
10
ONLY find sine and cosine
Assignments Classwork: Algebra 2 p #17-58 omit #45, 46 & 54 ONLY find sine and cosine Homework: General Angles
11
Exit Ticket 1. What are quadrantal angles? 2. What is a reference angle? 3. In what quadrants is sine positive? 4. In what quadrants is cosine positive?
