Verbal warning: “John, I’ve noticed that your tapping is making it difficult for Sally to learn. Please put your pencil down”. Visual warning – name on board (low-key). Sent to sit on the floor–15 mins or until ready to return to the computers. On return, student makes apology to the individuals involved. Loss of trust. Banned from computer club for a week. Steps 1,2 now apply, then step 5. Exited to the office for the remainder of day or until ready to return.

3 Maintaining an effective learning environment At Eastbourne PS
Students returning after having been removed Offenders have to apologise to the person/people involved before returning to their computer. We let the class decide when they are ready to have the student back. Students are always held accountable by their peers. A class representative will explain: The rights that the offender took away Who was upset Who the offender needs to apologise to What will happen if they do it again We keep a record so we can move to more severe consequences if the behaviour continues.
