1 Year 7 - Expressions and Sequences
a) I can write a simple expression and I understand the meaning of simple expressions. b) I can use simple formula expressed in words. c) I can simplify expressions. I can find equivalent expressions. I can substitute positive values into simple expressions. d) I can substitute positive and negative values into expressions. e) I can multiply a single term over a bracket. I understand the meaning of brackets in expressions. I can use simple formula. f) I can expand and factorise linear expressions. g) I can expand and factorise quadratic expressions. Pupil Version - Print this slide and the next slide two to a page and give to pupils to glue into their books. These should be printed onto blue paper so that pupils can easily find them in their books. Pupils should be referring to these every lesson.

2 a) Which of these expressions means
n multiplied by 3 n + n + n 3n n3 b) The cost of a plumber’s bill is £40 per hour plus a £20 call out fee. How much would it cost to call out a plumber for a 3 hour job? c) Simplify these expressions 3a + 2b + 2a – b d) Find the value of this expressions when a = 4 3a2 + 4 e) 4(a + 2b) – 2(2a + b) f) Factorise these expressions 30x – 24 25x2 + 20x g) Multiply out these brackets and simplify the result: (x + 4)(x - 3) Factorise x2 + 5x + 6
