2 The hourly rate is a fixed amount of money one gets paid per hour of work.

Straight-Time Pay and Take-Home Pay are different.

4 Example Thomas works at the local Casey’s making pizzas. He earns $8.25 per hour. In the month of July he worked 30 hours the 1st week and 33 Β½ hours 2nd week. 5 Overtime Pay Section 1.2

6 A regular work week is generally 40 hours
A regular work week is generally 40 hours. Overtime would be considered any amount of time over 40 hours. In general, the overtime rate is time and a half.

8 Example Thomas worked more in the last two weeks of July. He earns $8.25 per hour. He worked 50 hours in the 3rd week and 47 hours in the 4th week. What is his total pay for each week? 9 Weekly Time Card Section 1.3

10 In jobs that pay by the hour either the employee or the employer is required to keep track of a weekly time card. In many cases these weekly time cards are electronic.

11 A weekly time card is a record of when the employee signed in, when the employee signed out, and the number of hours worked. At the end of the week the number of hours worked is totaled. The time card is not official until the employee signs off that it is an accurate account of hours worked.

12 Example Thomas just turned in his time card for the 1st week of August. Complete the table to find the number of hours he worked in the 1st week.
