Why do we ask questions? Develop student understanding Assess prior knowledge Stimulates a discussion Encouraged reflective thinking Allow for creative thinking Classroom management

2 Types of Questions Close Ended – one single answer is the only one correct answer that will answer the intended question. Example. Opened Ended – require students to use background information and personal experiences to answer a question which may have more that one valid answer. Example.

General Information Ask questions that are appropriate to he grade level and ability of the child Ask one question at a time Ask questions before designating a person to answer Allow for a variety of responces Ask questions that lead to addressing the objectives of the lesson
