Aims of the syllabus The syllabus aims to develop:
interest in the past and an appreciation of human endeavour knowledge and understanding of historical periods or themes understanding of historical concepts such as cause and effect, similarity and difference, and change and continuity appreciation of the nature and diversity of historical sources available ability to think independently linguistic and communicative skills foundation for further study of history
