3 Section G2: What does ‘mobilising people’ mean?
Mobilising people, or campaigning, involves enabling people to participate in actions that increase pressure on decision-makers to bring about change on the issue. Mobilising people includes petitions, sending postcards, internet campaigns, street marches, prayer vigils, demonstrations, boycotts etc…

4 Section G2: Why bother mobilising people?
To show there is public concern and a high level of awareness and understanding of the issue To increase pressure on decision-makers To involve people directly affected by the issue To use energy or frustration in a positive way To bring media attention to the issue To produce greater commitment to the issue

5 Section G2: Good practice in mobilising people
Include those affected by the issue Choose your methods carefully Have a clear message and easy actions Make events fun and use novelty and surprise Avoid violence Think about how the media will respond Consider how decision-makers will respond
