1 AUTUMN 2 CLIMATIC HAZARDS
Global atmospheric circulation Air is moved around our planet by wind. This happens in circular cells called the Hadley Cell (located at the Equator) the Ferrel cells, and the Polar Cells (located in the north and south pole.) Hot air rises from the Equator and forms low pressure at ground level. Air moves towards these areas. This hot air is then transferred to the Ferrel and Polar cells where it is cooled. The cold air sinks towards the ground surface at the Poles, creating high pressure at ground level. Wind moves away from these areas. Weather in a hurricane. On the approach… In the eye …. After the eye of the storm passes… Cloud cover increases torrential downpours of rainfall. Winds from the east increase. Air pressure drops Calm Light winds Blue skies and settled weather Only lasts a short time. Wind speed increases again as second part of the vortex approaches. More heavy rain which will ease as the storm passes.

2 What were he responses to Typhoon Haiyan?
SHORT TERM RESPONSES: Send out search and rescue teams This was a good short term response because it meant that people that were trapped in their houses could get to safety. Fire fighters to drain flooded areas. This is good because more rescue trucks can get in with ladders, food, cranes to get people off roof tops. Set up tents as temporary housing for victims. This is good because victims would have shelter. Also this will help people to start their lives again. What were he responses to Typhoon Haiyan?
