Each Title I School holds an Annual Meeting for Parents for the purpose of… Informing you that PES receives Title I Funds Explaining the requirements of Title I Explaining your rights as parents to be involved This areas will be addressed throughout the presentation……… 6 schools in Autauga County that receive title one funds: AS BS PLES PPS PES ($162,000.00) available after the fiscal year begins in October PIS

3 What does it mean to be a Title I School?
Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used to…. Purchase resources to help students meet the challenging content standards required by the state. Purchasing equipment, supplemental programs, materials and supplies for the classroom. Conducting parent and family engagement meetings, trainings and activities. Discuss: How being in a Title I school means more money to help students who are struggling in school - Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist students at the school. (technology equipment, instructional materials, classroom supplies and supplemental programs) Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist parents. (parent resources found room 24 on the frog hall, take home folders, and parent involvement opportunities)

4 What is the 1% set-aside and how are parents involved?
We are required by law to set aside 1% of our Title I allocation for parental involvement. The amount we have for parental involvement this year is $3, This money will be spent on parent resources, take-home folders and parental involvement activities. You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved in how this money is spent and we would love your input. Suggestions can be left in the front office. Discuss: What the 1% amount is. ($3,005.66) - Clearly state the process that is in place for all Title I parents to have the opportunity for input on how the 1% funds are spent. (Title I Advisory Committee, includes parents, community leaders, administrators, teachers and guidance counselor from the school to discuss the input of others on how this money should be spent.)

5 What is the LEA Title I Plan?
The LEA (Local Education Authority - ACBOE) Title I Plan addresses how the LEA will use Title I funds throughout the school system . You, as a Title I Parent, have the right to be involved by giving input to the committee of the LEA Title I Plan (Dr. Rachel Surles). This plan is available at central office.

6 What are the Family Engagement Plans for ACBOE and PES?
These plans address how ACBOE and PES will implement the parental involvement requirements. Components include… How parents can be involved in decision-making and activities How parental involvement funds can be used How information and training will be provided to parents The expectations for parents You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved by giving input to the school administration or Central Office. Distribute the LEA Parental Engagement Plan. (orientation/1st day of school) Teachers have a copy of it, on hand, if you nee to see it.

7 How do I request the qualifications of my child’s teachers?
You, as Title I Parents, have the right to request the qualifications of your child’s teachers. A notification was sent home that will explain to you, as the parent, how to make this request. If you would like to receive this information, please send a notice to the school. When distributed

8 What is the CIP? The CIP is your school’s Continuous Improvement Plan and includes: A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data Goals and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students Professional Development Needs Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive Budget The School’s Family Engagement Plan You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved by giving input to school administration. The CIP will be finalized in October.

9 What is the School-Parent Compact?
The compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement. The School- Parent Compact was sent home during the 1st week of school. If you haven’t returned this form with your signature, please do so as soon as possible. Distribute the School-Parent Compact. (orientation/1st day of school)

10 How is the evaluation of the Family Engagement Plan Conducted?
Evaluation Requirements Conduct Annual Title 1 Meeting for Parents Analyze content and effectiveness of the current plan Identify barriers to parental involvement Providing Parents with educational resources Homework Help On-line Resources Data/Input Parent Survey /Telephone/Conference Parental Advisory Committees
