1. Highwayman Halted August 1st Wednesday 1769 By Jeremy Kyle
Three nights ago, a staggering event happened in Quohaug. There were two lovers, one was called Bess and the other was a Highwayman (name was unknown). This event occurred in a village a road. They both died later but only because he was a Highwayman.
Up to the Inn
The Highwayman came to a village on a big black horse, he was wearing breaches of brown doe – skin and a French cocked hat, his boots went up to his knees. The horse’s hooves clattered loudly on the cobbles. Then he saw Bess, he tried to grab her attention by whipping the window but didn’t work however, whistling a tune did.
Secret Contact
According to an eye witness, it is said that The Highwayman gave Bess a peck on the cheek after boasting about getting gold and jewels, he also promised to be back by the next night. After that, the eyewitness (who asked to be
nameless) ordered some red coats to come and trap the Highwayman.
The Red Coats
King George’s men( the Red Coats) came marching menacingly into the Red Zebra and soon started to drink ale and behaved boisterous. They then disappeared upstairs and then wasn’t seen in that tavern again that night. It is said that they used Bess as bait to capture the Highwayman. They tied her up to the bedpost and then placed a musket under her. Whilst this happened, they mocked and taunted her.
When The Highwayman came, Bess wanted to warn him but she couldn’t however there was one way but meant loosing her life that was by shooting herself with the musket tied to her. When The Highwayman heard the noise, he galloped off to the East on his horse. After
a few weeks, the word about Bess got to him, he rushed back as soon as he could however, as soon as he got there, he got shot…
