We will begin a new theme in the classroom: animals! Our theme introduces the function and structure of animals that live in Australia and compare them to what we know about animals that live near us.
We continue with the subject of weather in our reading unit as we explore descriptive words, practice classifying and categorizing, and identify the use of headings on text.

The students may begin to bring their valentines to school to deliver to their classmates’ valentine bags on Thursday, Feb. 9. We will open them during our class
breakfast the morning of Valentine’s Day. There will be a “Sign-Up” Genius for simple food and supplies for our breakfast. You may send those items in on Monday, Feb. 13th.
The 100th Day of Kindergarten is coming up soon! Unless we have a snow day, we will celebrate on Monday, Feb. 13. The children will make a picture using 100 items from home like stickers, foam pieces, beans, pasta, beads, coloring items or use their imagination! Materials coming home on Monday.
To Remember
Grades were posted online Friday, January 27th. Conferences are not scheduled this grading period but we will be happy to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress and answer any questions if there are concerns.
Father/Daughter Dance
Thursday, Feb. 16 from 6pm-7:30pm in the Gallery $10 per couple. Please RSVP by Feb. 13.
Library
The children are starting to take Library books home. Please see the letter that Librarian, Anne Anderson, sent home with your child’s book and note the date that the book is due to be returned.
