“...genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”

6. Directions!
On the forehead of your Open Mind diagram, include the individual’s:
Name
How old they were during the Armenian Genocide
Where they are from
In the space inside the Open Mind diagram, include thoughts and phrases that summarize the experience of the individual you read about. These need to be in first-person. For example: I think..., I feel..., I want…, etc.
Also, include images that connect with your person’s experience
Things I am looking for are:
Descriptions of their experience
Their beliefs
Their fears
Their wants
Their needs
Their emotions
3. You need to decorate your diagram with images/patterns that symbolize your individual’s experience. Use color! Be creative! The goal is for you to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.
