3 Allocate Verb To set apart or designate for a special purpose; to distribute The Girl Scout allocated her last box of Lemonades for her aunt, so she could give them to her the next weekend.

4 Ambidextrous Adjective Able to use both hands equally well.
After breaking my right hand I had to learn how to use my left hand. By the time I got my cast off I was ambidextrous.

5 Ardent Adjective Very enthusiastic; impassioned
The ardent fans traveled around the country to follow the band as they played their last tour ever.

When her boss said that next week would be a very good week, she took it as an intimation that she would be getting a promotion.

19 Opulent Adjective Wealthy, luxurious, grandiose
Winter Formal was held at an opulent theater in Downtown LA. It had large chandeliers and beautiful decorations.

20 Pliable Adjective Easily bent; flexible; easily influenced
The artist used pliable material to create his sculpture because it was easy to bend in whatever form he wanted.

The teacher had to reiterate the directions three times because his students were not listening the first couple of times.

22 Stolid Adjective Not easily moved mentally or emotionally
The therapist had a hard time getting through to the stolid girl because she would never speak or cry about what happened in her life.

23 Tentative Adjective Experimental in nature; uncertain
The couple set a tentative date for their wedding because they were not sure if they could book their dream venue for that weekend.

24 Unkempt Adjective Not combed; untidy (appearances); rude
His unkempt hair was sticking out all over the place and he ran out of gel to make it look nice.

25 Verbatim adjective/adverb Word-for-word; exactly as said/written
The students had to memorize one of Shakespeare’s sonnets verbatim and perform it in front of the class.

26 Warily Adverb Cautiously; with great care
He moved warily through the haunted house and tried to be aware of anything that could scare him.

27 Homework Write 15 sentences with one vocab word per sentence.
Sentence must show the meaning of the word to show understanding. Examples: Bad - The boy was malicious. Good - The malicious boy did not care if he hurt his sister’s feelings.
