1 We Will be Judged Romans 2:1-6

2

3 What Jesus Taught about Judging
Forbids hypocritical judging, Matt. 7:1-5 Approves careful discernment of right and wrong, both to help others (7:5) and to protect yourself (7:6); Heb. 5:14 Judge righteously, John 7:24 “Why…do you not judge what is right?” Luke 12:57

4 What is at the Heart of the “Don’t Judge” Mantra?
People do not want their sins exposed! John 3:19-21 None of us will escape judgment: WE WILL BE JUDGED How do you react to this truth? Acts 17:30-31

5 We Will be Judged by the Lord
22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. John 5:22–23

6 We Will be Judged by the Lord
Everyone: Saint and sinner, Acts 17:31; 2 Cor. 5:10; Hebrews 10:30 We have boldness in the day of judgment, not fear, 1 John 4:17-19 World sins boldly, refusing to recognize God’s judgment, 1 Cor. 15:32; 1 Thess. 5:2-3

7 We Will be Judged by a Common Standard
The Word of God Divine truth, Jno. 12:48-50; Rev. 20:11-15 Words and deeds, Matt. 12:36-37; 2 Cor. 5:10 We accept the Lord’s judgment, not men’s, 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 We are careful not to judge based on human wisdom or public opinion

8 We are Judged by the World When We are Faithful to Jesus
“You’re one of them!” Matt. 26:69-74 Judged to be evildoers, 1 Peter 2:11-12; 3:15-17; 4:4-5 Narrow-minded, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe… Galatians 4:16 Judged as sinfully “judging” when we speak God’s judgments!

9 We are Judged by the World When We are Faithful to Jesus
Judged to be a cult, Matthew 7:20; 15:10-14 Judged to be insignificant and in error, 1 Peter 3:20-21 By the world, and by some brethren

10 We Will be Judged It is a small thing to be judged by men, 1 Corinthians 4:3-5 We must examine ourselves, using God’s word as our standard of judgment, 1 Corinthians 11:31-32; Corinthians 13:5

11 We Will be Judged Issue is not: “Do not judge” because we are all sinners Issue is: Judge righteously, using God’s truth Our incentive: We will be judged as we judge, Matthew 7:2
