2 Automotive mechaic .bcit: The Automotive Service Technician and Operations (ASTO) program has been designed to meet the need for skilled technicians who can diagnose and repair the sophisticated systems in today's motor vehicles. It is also for those with an interest in automotive, but who aspire to run their own business or assume customer service and management positions in the industry. This program offers maximum career flexibility, enabling graduates to pursue their Automotive Service Technician Red Seal certification with the option for post-diploma baccalaureate pathways in automotive engineering, business administration and technology management. 3 Entrance requirements
Books and supplies English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following: ◦English 12 (50%) or ◦Communications 12 (67%) or ◦3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (50%) from a recognized institution or ◦BCIT English Trades Pre-entry Test (for applicants who have two years of education in an English-speaking country only) Math: one of the following: ◦Any Math 11 or ◦BCIT Math Trades Pre-entry Test Level 1: $970 Level 2: $590 Level 3: $280 Level 4: $280

4 The Program Other programs they do… Applied & Natural Sciences
This ASTO program is comprised of four technical training terms with two paid 22-week co-op work terms in an automotive repair facility. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive an Automotive Service Technician and Operations Diploma and qualify for credit towards all four levels of technical training requirements in the Provincial Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship program and 2000 hours of time service requirement. 5 Working with BCIT BCIT works with business and industry to develop innovative solutions in a wide range of research areas.Our researchers have developed hundreds of practical solutions to industry's challenges Drawing on faculty from more than 200 technical programs within six BCIT schools, the full-time research staff of our Applied Research groups MAKE+, SMART and NRG, and the applied research and development assistance experts in our Applied Research Liaison Office, we can assemble project teams with multi-disciplinary skills and expertise. Research projects conducted at BCIT typically involve: •Design and development of prototype devices, systems and applications •Analysis, testing and evaluation of new technologies •Commercialization and licensing of new technologies and products BCIT’s research clients range from the independent entrepreneur with a unique prototype idea, to established companies and organizations developing new products and services.
