2 Extruding a Profile Select a construction plane (a default plane, a surface on the object, or create a new construction plane). Create a 2D profile on the selected construction plane. Specify the direction of the extrude. Specify the distance of the extrude. Specify the taper angle (if appropriate).

17 Fillets Most CAD programs do not distinguish between fillets and rounds. Select the edges to be filleted. Specify a fillet radius.

18 Chamfers Select the edges to be chamfered. Specify the chamfer.

Select the 2D or 3D feature(s). Specify a direction for copying the objects in one direction. Specify the distance between features as well as the number of features to duplicate in that direction. 20 Circular Patterns or Arrays
Select the 2D or 3D feature(s). Specify an axis of rotation for the feature(s). Specify a direction for copying the objects in one direction. Specify the distance between features as well as the number of features to duplicate in that direction. Specify a direction for copying the objects in another direction. Specify the distance between features as well as the number of features to duplicate in the second direction.

21 Mirroring Features Select the 3D feature(s).
Specify a 2D plane to mirror the features about.

22 Creating a Loft Create construction planes for each 2D profile.
Construct the 2D geometry on each profile. Activate the loft command and select each profile.

23 Creating a Loft Sometimes it is necessary to identify guide curves or rails. Guide curves and rails help the computer with the interpolation between the profiles.

24 Creating a Loft Most programs will allow the user to select different points on profiles. With this option objects can be created that twist.

25 Creating a Sweep Create a sketch to define the path of the sweep.
Create a sketch to define the profile of the sweep. Make sure the profile and the path intersect. Activate the sweep command and select the profile and the path.

26 Shell Select the faces of the solid that will be eliminated.
Determine a wall thickness for the shell.

27 Helix or Coil A helix or coil can be used to create several types of parts. When combined with a sweep, it is especially good for creating springs and for cutting threads. Most software will allow a helix or coil to be defined by the following parameters: Pitch and revolution. Height and revolution. Height and pitch.
