1 Graphical addition of Vectors
Today we will be drawing in great detail. Please arm yourself with a protractor, ruler, and colored paper for notes. Logon to a computer and play the vector addition game under the chapter 3 class notes. Objective(s)/SWBAT (Students will be able to): Differentiate scalar and vector quantities Add vectors graphically Activities: Discuss due dates Discuss vector addition 1 – d 2 – d Draw to scale Students add vectors graphicall Check answer online Closure: List steps to determine a resultant. Assessment: Problem set Test

2 Students will be able to:
Differentiate scalar quantities. Add vectors graphically. Discuss vector addition 1 – d 2 – d Draw to scale Standards, 3.1.b,c,d , 3.4.c

3 Vector addition Kim walks 6.5 km at 75 degrees then 8.2 km at 33 degrees. Use the graphical method for addition of vectors to determine her total displacement. Example problem Standards, 3.1.b,c,d , 3.4.c

4 Vector addition Now let’s apply this to a problem. Use the graphical method to find the resultant of the following two displacements: D1 = 60 m at 40 and D2 = 40 m at 153 Choose a scale that allows this to fill the entire page. Assigned problem Standards, 3.1.b,c,d , 3.4.c

5 Vector addition Check your answer using “Vector Math” under chapter 3 on the website. Print this solution and attach it to your graphical solution and place both in your folder. Standards, 3.1.b,c,d , 3.4.c

6 Wrap it up. What steps do we follow in order to determine the resultant of several vectors? Standards, 3.1.b,c,d , 3.4.c
