9 How much of a problem is homelessness?
Between April 2016 and April 2017, over 10,000 families were homeless in Wales. Over 9,000 families were within 56 dayso of becoming homeless. 300 + people were sleeping rough. Dros 30 y nifer o blant sydd yn y wasanaeth.

10 What is homelessness? Being homeless means not having a decent, secure home that you can afford where you fell safe, can work and fulfil your potential. It can mean that you do not have a roof over your head and have to sleep on the street. Or, it can mean that you have nowhere to go and are staying with friends or in temporary accommodation such as a bed and breakfast hotel. So, you may have a roof over your head but you are still homeless. People in these circumstances are often called ‘hidden homeless people’.

11 Shelter Cymru’s Role in Wales
Since 1981, Shelter Cymru has been working to prevent homelessness. In that time we’ve helped around half a million people fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find and keep a home. We also tackle the root causes of bad housing by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions.
