Mr. Butler’s 8th Grade Social Studies

2 Classroom Constitution Preamble
We the students of Mr. Butler’s class, in order to learn in a productive environment, do hereby ordain and establish this constitution

3 Classroom Constitution Amendment I
Student Rights Each student has the right to be safe, to learn, to be respected, to hear and be heard, and to be treated fairly

4 Classroom Bill of Rights Amendment II
Student Responsibility Each student is responsible for ensuring classroom is safe, for participating in all class activities, for learning all material taught, for respecting other students, and for working up to his/her potential

5 Classroom Constitution Amendment III
Teacher Responsibility The teacher will be responsible for creating an environment that allows each student to learn and feel safe. Furthermore, teacher is responsible for encouraging all students to work up to his/her potential.

6 Classroom Constitution Amendment IV
R&R Not Covered In Constitution For elements not outlined in the Constitution, the teacher/student will use discretion to determine if actions interfere with the learning and well being of other students (In other words, do not put yourself in a position that might result in behavioral and/or academic ineligibility)

7 Classroom Constitution Amendment V
Violation of These Rights If any student violates any portion of the constitution, he/she may be subject to the consequences outlined in school wide discipline policy, subject to teacher’s discretion

8 THINK “SMART” 1. Smart Students use learning strategies
Opportunities to utilize strategies will be provided 2. Materials are ready for class I am not the school store 3. Assignment Notebook is available for use SS Notebook (notes) is brought to class each day 4. Remember to ask questions when you don’t understand Be actively engaged in the lesson 5. Think Positively “I can do it”

10 Rituals, Routines, Procedures
Entering Classroom Orderly and Begin Warm-up Activity During Class Remain in seats and raise hand Exiting Class Orderly and only when dismissed Transition to/from class Quietly and Orderly
