Identify important roles and responsibilities of the teacher as a facilitator of learning and formator of human character Understand the importance of education according to the mind of the Church Appreciate the nobility of teaching as a vocation and as a profession

3 Session 1-A Workshop 1 Instruction: In the picture provided (Handout No. 1, Session 1) write your answers to the following question: What are the important elements that distinguish a learner/s as a human person/s? As a group (Handout No. 1, Session 1) agree what individual answers could be placed in the group’s list. Use 1 extra copy of the handout

7 Some Insights on the Learner
A learner is more than the sum total of his or her qualities or abilities. The learner is a human person who has inherent dignity, has freedom and has a purpose in life. A learner, on account of his / her being a mystery has limitless possibilities. Different learners can always learn in diverse ways and in varied paces.

8 The Teacher as a Facilitator of Learning and and Formator of Character
In the the handout provided (Session 1, Handout No.2) write your recommendations as to how curriculum, assessments, instruction and supervision be designed and implemented considering the nature of the learner/s as persons with dignity, freedom, conscience, aspirations and talents, but above all, as beings who have ultimate purpose in life? As a group, agree and write what answers should be placed in the group’s list. Use 1 extra copy of the handout (Handout No. 2, Session 1)

Christian education does not only strive for the maturing of the human person but also to make him / her aware of the gift of Faith

The parents are the principal educators of the children and the family is the first school of social virtues The Church also has the duty of educating her children especially of her responsibility of announcing the way of salvation, communicating the Life of Christ and of assisting men and women to come to the fullness of life, promote the good of earthly society and building of a world that is more human.
