2. Organizational aspects of Intercalibration
1) Establish quickly expert drafting groups for different water categories (3). Proposals?
2) 2-5 experts to draft the first criteria for selection (preferably from CIS WGs, but ...).
3) JRC will facilitate & lead drafting groups
4) Drafts reviewed by WG intercalibration
5) Information from other WGs and outside CIS working groups should be included.

3. Selection of Types
The approach of WRc for grouping rivers into core types was supported.
Should be expanded for other quality elements, categories, and all MS included
all important pressures should be covered
as many types as possible, but allowing sufficient/high number of sites
prepare common paper on HMWB & intercalibration with WG 2.2.

4. Selection of sites
A range of sites from high to moderate should be examined to set the borders
use physical chemical data & critical loading models (for lakes) to identify range of potential IC sites
number of sites should be higher than 2 (existing recommendation 5, or even more if possible)
all biological quality elements should be included, and to cover range of pressures
