Choose your homework tasks from the selection below. Complete one task each week, or double up if you are ‘homework hungry’.
Tick off each task that you do.
Starters
Draw or print a map of the world. Colour countries which were involved in WW2.
Draw and label a great aeroplane from WW2 e.g. British Typhoon, Spitfire.
Research clothing of the time and sketch a typical day-to-day outfit of a child, man, or woman.
Mains
Imagine you are an evacuee. Write a postcard home to your family explaining what has happened to you.
Write a song to keep people's spirits up during the war.
Create your own model gas mask (cardboard tubes etc)
Research your family tree and find out which family members were alive in WW2. Can you find out anything else about them? Did any of them serve in the army or have a special role in the UK?
Research what the blackout was and the effect it had on people.
Research a WW2 recipe and make it at home. Photograph the meal and show the recipe you used.
Make a model of a WWII submarine or plane for display.
Find a song from the 1940s and describe it in terms of volume and pitch. How does the song make you feel?
Find out which foods were rationed and measure out the quantities. It won’t be much.
Challenge
Design a poster persuading people to join the army.
Create a slideshow / fact map about WWII ready to share with the class.
Write a short poem, imagining your street has been destroyed in the Blitz.
