2 R=Reword Restate key words from the prompt.

3 A=Answer Answer the question or questions in the prompt.

4 C=Cite Textual Evidence
Cite evidence from the text at least two times to support your answer.

5 When Citing Evidence from the Text
You can write the following to indicate that you are using textual evidence; As stated in the text… According to the text…. The author stated…

6 E=Explain your Answer Explain your evidence and connect it to your writing in a logical way.

7 R=Real World Connection
Use a real world example to help explain your answer when appropriate.

8 Important things to Remember
Analyze the prompt (Understand what the prompt is asking you to do) Background Knowledge: Give a brief explanation of the important points in the text. Answer the questions that should be answered or addressed in the response. Proof: Be sure to use evidence from the text to support your answers or opinions.

9 Key words in a Prompt & How to Answer
Analyze=Separate into parts Compare=Give similarities and differences Contrast=Give the differences only Define=State a precise meaning Discuss=present background information with supporting/descriptive details Describe=Convey an idea Evaluate=Place judgement, but support using details

10 Remember! A constructed response should be about 6 sentences only!
