1 Finding the subject page 45
Unit 1 Lesson 4 Finding the subject page 45

2 Inverted order If the subject follows all or part of the predicate, it is called inverted order. For example: At the corner of park street is the bus stop. (What is the subject?) Here comes the last bus. (What is the subject?) Where is our train? (What is the subject?) Does Anne ride her bicycle to school? (What is the subject?)

3 If you put the words back into their “natural order”, it may be easier to find the subject.
The bus stop is at the corner of Park Street. The last bus comes here. Our train is where? Anne does ride her bicycle to school. (remember, subjects take the verb of the sentence)

4 Also, recognize that sometimes a subject is just understood, but is not written out.
For example: Meet me at the beginning of the path. (you) Please save me a seat on the bus. (you)

5 Please look at 1-10 on page 46 and complete them in your notes.

6 Fantastic. Now do questions 11-28 in your notes.
These are due before our next Grammar period. If you do not finish them now, it is your responsibility to finish them before Grammar.
