1 Chapter 2: Statistics and Graphs (pg. 81)
Data – pieces of information that are often numerical Graph- a more visual way to display data Bar graph- used to compare categories of data Scale-written on the vertical axis. It includes the least number and the greatest number. The scale is separate into equal parts called intervals. Scale Species

2 Chapter 2: Statistics and Graphs (pg. 82)
Line graphs and bar graphs are meant to show different types of data Bar graph- single time period Line graph- change over time Population (millions) Year

3 Chapter 2: Statistics and Graphs (pg. 88)
Line graphs are often used to predict future events because they show trends over time. By studying the trend of the data, it is possible to make predictions about what will happen in the future. Extrapolation- extending or projecting known information in order to infer or estimate. Population (millions) Year

4 Chapter 2: Statistics and Graphs: Stem-and-Leaf Plots (pg. 92)
Stem-and-leaf plots show data ordered from least to greatest and organized by place value. Stem Leaf Order data from least to greatest Draw a vertical line and write the tens digits from least to greatest to the left of the line. These are the stems. Write the ones digits in order to the right of the line with the corresponding stem. The ones digits are the leaves.

5 Chapter 2: Line Plots (pg. 96)
A line plot is a diagram that shows the frequency of data on a number line. An x is placed above a number on a number line each time that data value occurs
