2 802.18 – The Radio Regulatory TAG
<month year> doc.: IEEE <doc#> September 2005 – The Radio Regulatory TAG IEEE 802 6 Working Groups with projects on standards for radio-based systems IEEE (WLAN), IEEE (WPAN), IEEE (WMAN), IEEE (Wireless Mobility), IEEE (Handoff/Interoperability Between Networks), and IEEE (WRAN). Radio Regulatory Technical Advisory Group ("RR-TAG"). Is responsible for monitoring of, and active participation in, ongoing radio regulatory activities Adams, Freescale <author>, <company>

3 Current Efforts in RR-TAG
September 2005 Current Efforts in RR-TAG RR-TAG September interim meeting will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from September RR-TAG will be meeting in the ITU facility Intent is to provide RR-TAG attendees exposure to the ITU-R process, allow ITU-R meeting attendees to learn what the function of the RR-TAG is and to encourage participation in the IEEE process Adams, Freescale

4 Attendees at Geneva Michael Lynch (Nortel), Chair
September 2005 Attendees at Geneva Michael Lynch (Nortel), Chair Denis Kuwahara (Boeing), Vice Chair Several others from RR-TAG Adams, Freescale

5 September 2005 Results had received and responded to a consultation from the European Commission (EC) with regard to 2.6 GHz spectrum which was asking if a specific technology should be mandated or if the spectrum should be handled in a 'technology neutral' perspective.  Our position is that Regulators should not specify a technology. The RR-TAG also updated the RR-TAG P&P to define reflector access, which was overlooked. We concluded our meetings and changed the venue to participate in meetings of ITU-R Working Party 8A, and its subgroups WG4 - Interference and sharing; and WG7 - Wireless access, Including RLANs. No Direct Impacts on WG15 apparent Adams, Freescale
