Background & Purpose Detailed description of the company, history, where they are now – what are the issues that they are tackling, what are they asking for? What are they asking for it? What is the purpose of this project? 2) Benefits to the organisation How will a new system benefit the organisation. Several points of how the business of the company will be improved. 3) Stakeholders Who are the people involved with this project. For example the Owners, Shareholders, Staff, Customers, Competitors, Suppliers, People doing the project. What is their stake in this project and how would they be interested in its further development. 4) The Client requirements Overview of what the new system requires. Include also Navigation, Security, Training and backup procedures.

Project Scope Brief overview of the scope of the project as a whole. Timescales involved How much time will the project take – how much time have you actual got to meet the project. Any specific tasks need to be completed within a certain deadline? Target completion date. Costs involved What are the costs involved to the company – such as hardware, software, man hours. What are the costs in the development process? Roles and responsibilities for team members What role will each team member undertake to complete this project. How is that member suitable for the task allocated? Project Outcomes and Objectives (measured) & Success Criteria Detailed objectives to the project. They must be measurable. Input objectives, output objectives, processing objectives. How will each objective be considered a success? How will each objective be measured a success. Deliverables of the system

Limits to the system What will the system not be expected to do? Constraints to the system What constraints might hinder the development of the system such as costs and time Areas of risk Where might the system fail? Technical Justification of solution proposed What software and hardware will you use for creating this system and justify why you have chosen these? Requirements and expectations of the Spreadsheet. What must the Spreadsheet software be able to do to meet the Objectives

Unit 5 – High Band Marking = 15 Marks. The candidate has undertaken a comprehensive analysis of the given problem and presented a problem definition that includes • A clear and concise summary of the group work carried out in preparation for the project, which explains the organisational procedures used by the group and clarifies their own contribution to the work. • A comprehensive project definition that accurately re-defines the scope and purpose of the project as stated in the group project proposal to take full account of given changes in client’s requirements. • A set of clear and measurable objectives for the project which clearly define the success criteria to be used to assess the final outcomes.
