Problem Statement: Co-submittal by SCOWCT and SCOTSEM
Problem: Current systems used to communicate between transportation field elements (RWIS, sensor networks, DMS signs) are typically dependent on leased services such as cellular or private telephone lines. These services can be unreliable, unavailable in rural areas, and costly.
Proposed Research: Proof-of-concept study for transferring information to/from various field elements through a 700 MHz radio system. 700 MHz was chosen to increase likelihood of interoperability (i.e. with FirstNet.)
