New players to this new popular poker game have to adjust to its unique style of play. Texas Holdem brings some changes to both the dealer and the players vs. more traditional 5 card poker games. In this training series, we will cover some of the topics related to the dealers role in a Texas Holdem game. First up in this series is Deal or No Deal: Dealing Cards for a Texas Holdem Game. 5 Deal or No Deal: Dealing Cards for a Texas Holdem Game OBJECTIVES Terminal Objective: Upon completion of this module, learner will be able to deal cards in a standard Texas Hold'em poker game from pre-flop to river. Enabling Objectives: Given a randomized list of steps to be completed, learner will be able to: Identify the proper card dealing steps for the Pre-Flop portion of a Texas Hold'em poker game; Identify the proper card dealing steps of the Flop portion of a Texas Hold'em poker game; Identify the proper card dealing steps of the Turn portion of a Texas Hold'em poker game; and Identify the proper card dealing steps of the River portion of a Texas Hold'em poker game. 6 Deal or No Deal: Dealing Cards for a Texas Holdem Game To start off the game, the dealer has to complete the following steps. This part of the Texas Holdem game is called the Pre-flop. 1.Shuffle cards. 2.Allow small and big blinds to be paid by the designated players. 3.Starting from the appointed dealer's left, deal 1 card at a time face down. 4.Repeat Step 3 to assure all players have 2 face down cards. 5.Allow a round of betting to be completed. This part of the Texas Holdem game is called the Flop. 1.Place one card face down on the table. 2.Place three cards face up in the middle of the table. 3.Allow another round of betting to be completed. This part of the Texas Holdem game is called the Turn. 1.Place one card face down on top of the other burn cards. 2.Place one card face up in line with the other three faced up cards. 3.Allow another round of betting to be completed. This part of the Texas Holdem game is called the River. 1.Place one card face down on top of the other burn cards. 2.Place one card face up in line with the other four faced up cards. 3.Allow final round of betting to be completed. 4.Determine the winning hand or player.
