Born on May 14, 1984 in White Plains, NJ to Edwards and Karen Zuckerberg. A child prodigy, spent most of his time using computers and creating software. In high school Mark developed a music player that worked on artificial intelligence, Synapse Media Player, could pick up its users listening habits. Microsoft and AOL made offers but Mark refused.

In 2002 he began his college career at Harvard University where he studied computer science and psychology. While at Harvard he wrote various softwares, one name Facemash, a program in which the students could vote who was better looking. Was shutdown on the grounds of privacy and being completely improper. Next was CourseMatch, which helped students choose their classes based on the course selection of other users.

From the buzz of his previous projects three classmates, Divya Narendra, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss asked him to create a networking site they would call Harvard Connection. He dropped out from helping so he could work on his on social networking site. He created Facebook while at Harvard with the help od Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes, and Eduardo Saverin. 6 To fulfill his dream, Mark moved to Palo Alto, VA with his close friends where they lid the solid foundations of Facebook. Huge investments came from: Peter Thiel Venture Capital firm Accel Partner- $12.7 million With the help from their investments they were able to cross the boundaries of the ivy league schools. By December 2005, Facebook had almost 6 million users worldwide.

In 2006, Mark faced his biggest hurdle. The creators of Harvard Connection claimed that mark stole their idea and insisted the software developer needed to pay for their business losses. Mark maintained that the ideas were based on two very different types of social networks but after lawyers search Marks records, incriminating messages revealed that Mark may have intentionally stole the intellectual property of Harvard Connection and offered Facebook users private information to his friends.

He later apologized for the messages, and regretted them. If youre going to go on to build a service that is influential and that a lot of people rely on, hen you need to be mature, right? I think Ive grown and learned a lot An initial settlement of $65million was reached between the parties but the legal dispute matter continued well into 2011after Narendra and the Wilkvosses claimed they were misled in regards to the value of their stock.

In 2009, Ben Mezrich wrote a book The Accidental Billionaires, which was about Mark but had used invented scenes and fictional characters and re- imagined dialogue. Regardless of how true the story was, Mezrich, sold the rights to screenwrite Aaron Sorkin and the film The Social Network, went on to receive 8 Academy Award nominations. For one he had been dating Priscilla Chan, since 2003 and never had interest in joining any clubs at Harvard.

In 2012, he made two major life changes. Facebook has its initial public offering, which raised $16 billion, biggest internet IPO in history. He personally negotiated the company deal to buy Instagram for $1billion.
