a refusal to worship (vs 21)
distorted thinking and idolatry (vs 21-22a, 24a)
a darkened heart (vs 21, 24)
evil behaviour (vs 26-32)
god isn’t ouotraged by all of this

5. 2:1-3:8 you, therefore… who is paul addressing?
unrighteous judgement (2:1-4)
judgement for jew and gentile (2:5-16)
the failure of jewish righteousness (2:17-3:8)

7. 3:9-20 drawing the threads together…
jews and gentiles alike are all under sin
no one is righteous, does good
no one understands
they do not know the way of peace
no fear of god before their eyes
no one will be declared righteous
the role of the law (vs 19-20)

the profound spiritual need of humanity
