Barry is trying to solve the equation 𝑥 2 +𝑥=3 by iterative formula.
Show that there is a solution between 𝑥=1 and 𝑥=2.
Starting with 𝑥 0 =1.5 work out the value of x correct to three decimal places using the iterative formula
𝑥 𝑛+1 = 3− 𝑥 𝑛

solve the equation 𝑥 2 +3𝑥−5=0 using the iterative formula
𝑥 𝑛+1 = 5 𝑥+3
And starting with 𝑥=1

Use the iterative formula below to find a solution for the equation 𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 −9=0 correct to four decimal places.
