About the Survey Ran first two weeks of June 2011 Survey link included in: Posting to Agile Alliance, Agile DW/BI, and Agile CMMI discussion groups on LinkedIn Twitter posting (twitter.com/scottAmbler) Data, summary, and slides downloadable from 168 respondents Because the source of the data are people on agile lists there is a fair bit of bias towards agile. Therefore you wouldn’t want to consider any of the data to represent adoption rates of agile techniques. Copyright 2011 Scott W. Ambler

Success rate for organizations applying agile techniques to a given project type Original question: What types of situation has your organization applied agile on? Please choose the most appropriate option(s): Successfully - My organization has successfully applied agile techniques in this situation In progress - We are currently applying agile in this situation Failed - We tried to apply agile techniques in this situation but they didn't work well No – We haven't tried agile techniques in this situation Not applicable - We don't have this type of situation Don't know - I'm not sure if we do this type of work OR I don't know what it is Chart shows % of organizations applying agile for the given project types. Many orgs are still in the process of applying agile in the given situation, so cannot yet judge if the effort was successful or not. Copyright 2011 Scott W. Ambler

Agile Fear Quotient? For a given project, what is the percentage of organizations doing that type of project but NOT yet applying agile in that situation? Calculation: Potential number of orgs doing a project type - TOTAL = Success + In Progress + Failed + No Could have applied agile but didn’t = No/TOTAL Copyright 2011 Scott W. Ambler
