Conquests 332 BC Alexander captured Syria and Egypt and built the city of Alexandria in Egypt as a center of business & trade.

Conquests 331 BC Alexander went East and conquered Persians at Gaugemela near Babylon. After Gaugemela Alexander easily conquered the rest of the Persian Empire.

Conquests. From 331 BC to 328 BC his conquests would go as far as modern day Pakistan.

Conquests In 326 BC Alexander crossed the Indus River and into India. Alexander fought several bloody battles. Too weary his soldiers refused to fight any longer and Alexander lead them home.

Conquests On the return march Alexander’s army crossed a desert in Southern Iran with heat and thirst killing thousands of soldiers.

Conquests In 323 BC, Alexander returned to Babylon to plan an invasion of Southern Arabia, but was very tired from wounds and weakness. After coming down with a fever he was dead at the age of 32.

After Alexander’s death, his generals fought amongst one another for controlling power. The Kingdom fell apart into four separate kingdoms; Macedonia, Pergamum, Egypt and the Seleucid Empire.

Empire Breaks Apart In the 4 different kingdoms, government business was conducted in Greek. By 100 BC the largest city in the Med was Alexandria. All the cities in the Med needed Greek speaking people to spread Greek ideas throughout the Med.
