1 Ocean Teacher Academy Course MIM: Grant Writing for Digitisation Projects
Scanning documents related to commercial fishing catch of two different species (Paralabrax nebulifer and Balistes polylepis) in Baja California Sur. (COFICATCH) Teresa Barriga Ramirez September 2012

2 CICIMAR - IPN Baja California Sur State is a region characterized by its rich marine resources that partly explains the existence of more than three decades of academic institutions such as the Centre for Marine Sciences (CICIMAR 2

3 Mission “… provide post-graduate education, develop scientific and technological research, both basic and applied, aimed at the conservation and use of marine resources contributing to the development of Mexico, as well as fostering the dissemination of scientific and technological culture within the polytechnic community and society in general…”

4 Library “Reuben Lasker”
In this sense, CICIMAR-IPN Library contributes to the exploitation of marine resources in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico, by undertaking digitization projects of relevant, scattered or incomplete information on fisheries management.

Lack of access to current and verifiable information is a problem that generates overexploitation of marine resources, affecting fishery development in Mexico. it is necessary to recover and make available such information on catch so that future research in this regard are reliable

6 Goal There is a need to recover the logbook and/or notices of arrival of commercial species distinctive of artisanal fisheries from offices that may own them in print, organize and transfer them to a digital format to be visible on a website Library and OceanDocs repository widely distributed and available for both researchers and fish production sector, who are the primary users of this information. . Recover logbook and / or arrival notices of commercial species distinctive of artisanal fisheries like verdillo (Paralabrax nebulifer) and cochito (Balistes polylepis), concentrate and keep documents in a digital format to be visible and arranged in a website for both researchers and fish production sector, who are the primary users of this information at national, regional and international scale.
