7. Another thing that all living things do is use oxygen to turn food into energy.
We usually think of this as breathing but the scientific word for it is

Plants take in oxygen through the tiny holes on the underside of their leaves. This helps the photosynthesis process.

You are probably thinking that a plant cannot move but actually there are ways that it can.
Plants can grow towards a light and even turn to grow upwards if they fall over.

Plants excrete (get rid of) water and gases which escape through the tiny holes on the underside of the leaves.

Plants do not have the same 5 senses as us, but they are sensitive to their environment in other ways as they can respond to light and temperature.
