Motivation
In general, a Peer-2-Peer (P2P) network or a mesh network can co-exist with an infrastructure network
The channel number that is selected by the P2P or mesh network can be critical to the overall WiFi network performance
Guidance from the infrastructure on channel allocation for P2P or mesh networking can facilitate coordinated network planning and thus improve overall network performance:
Coordinated channel planning
Reduce radio interference
Balance traffic load

Introducing Channel Allocation IE
AP advertises Channel Allocation IE via Beacon and Probe Response frames
The APs can advertise a frequency list that either IT recommended or the network infrastructure examined based on the interference level and traffic load
Non-AP STA can get channel allocation information with or without having to associate to the infrastructure network
Non-AP STA can then utilize the recommended channels for respective communication purposes
