1 Prayers, the road to church revival

2 Revival is the work of the Holy Spirit
Hebrews 3:7-9 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, when your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years.

3 Asking for the Holy Spirit
Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

4 The promise of Revival 2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

5 Exodus 32: Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation." But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Exodus 32:14 Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

6 Ezra 10:1 And when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there gathered to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children, for the people wept with a great weeping. Ezra 10:2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have sinned against our God and have taken strange women from the people of the land. Yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

7 The early church was a praying church
Acts 1:14 these all were continuing with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

8 Acts 4: And now, Lord, behold their threatenings, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word, by stretching forth of Your hand for healing, and miracles, and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness. Praying for Revival

9 The Church should pray, always…
1- Even if the answer has been “NO” before 2- Even if the situation appears “IMPOSSIBLE” 3- Even if we have “WEAK FAITH”

10 1- Even if the answer has been “NO” before
Acts 12:1-3 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. (2) He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. (3) When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

11 2- Even if the situation appears IMPOSSIBLE
Acts 12:5-6 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. (6) The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.

12 3- Even if we have WEAK FAITH.
Acts 12:13-16 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. (14) When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!" (15) "You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel."

13 Mark 9:21-24 And He asked his father, How long ago has it been since this came to him? And he said, From childhood. (22) And oftentimes it has cast him into the fire and into the waters to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us. (23) Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. (24) And immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.

14 B- How The Church Should Pray…
1- With a humble and pure heart. 2- Boldly with confidence. 3- Without ceasing or giving up. 4- Being specific in what we pray for. 5- With faith and not doubting. 6- Praying for the right things.

15 1- With a humble and pure heart
Isaiah 1:15-16 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; (16) wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight!

16 2-Boldly with confidence
1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

17 3- Without ceasing or giving up
Luke 18:3- 6,7 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

18 4- Being specific in what we pray for
Mark 10:51-52 "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." (52) "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

19 5- With faith and not doubting
James 1:6-8 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (7) That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; (8) he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

20 6- Praying for the Right Things
James 4:3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. Mathew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

21 Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (12) Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
