Target Consumer – A group, in which a product is designed for.
Design Process – A systematic problem-solving strategy.
Engineers Notebook – A notebook used to record the evolution of a product.
It is sometimes used to prove who developed the idea with patent law suits.

Define the Problem clearly
Collect Data (Identify criteria and constraints.)
Brainstorm (What’s already out there?)
Develop a design proposal (Includes sketches, materials, time frame, cost estimation, etc.)
Make a prototype or implement solution
Test /Evaluate (Problem solved?)
Modify/Refine
There are many design processes that guide professionals in developing solutions to problems. The example that you see here is the design process that we will use for this course and the rest of the Project Lead The Way, Inc. courses you will take.

Work for idea quantity, develop as many as possible.
Everyone contributes.
Remind students that all ideas are important ideas. ALL students must be able to contribute.

5. What are some team-working skills?
- Dependable (Will you do your portion and correctly?) - Collaboration (Work well with others? Control freak?) - Task allocation (Do you evenly distribute the work?) - Conflict resolution (Will you talk/listen to work it out?) - Communication (Do you listen/speak effectively?)

6. Design Activity: Objective:
In a team of two, design something that will hold a wooden triangle (point down), for 10 sec. You can’t hold it with your hand.
Materials:
2 Sheets of printer paper
2 Rubber bands
1 strip of tape a foot long (12inches)
Ruler
1 wooden triangle
1 table
- 2nd step: Brainstorm, quantity….not quality!
- You must find 4 WORKABLE SOLUTIONS!!
- Each person is responsible for two ideas, draw the sketches on your notes.

Cost (should I reconsider the materials to reduce cost)
Aesthetics (appearance, does it look nice)
Material (what will it be made of, what’s appropriate)
Shape (does it have to be a certain height or size)
