If it flies, It's part of aeronautics!

3 Kites in Japan Kites are the oldest known heavier-than-air crafts, designed to gain lift from the wind while being flown from the end of a flying line, or tether. It is thought that kites were first introduced to Japan by Buddhist monks who came from China in the Nara period ( B.C.). They were originally used to avert evil spirits and to insure rich harvests. “BUKA” is one of the fighting kites, Shizuoka, Japan. “Chochin” is Japanese lantern and this kite resembles chochin.

4 Hamamatsu Festival This festival dates back to the 16th Century when large kites were flown in celebration of the birth of a baby son to the Lord of Hamamatsu Even today, kites are flown at Hamamatsu when a baby boy is born, a custom known as hatsudako Nakatajima Dunes, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture

5 Hot Air Balloon History
September 19, 1783 Pilatre De Rozier, a scientist, launched the first hot air balloon called 'Aerostat Reveillon'. 2 years later, Pilatre De Rozier attempted to fly across the English Channel. In 1944, Japan introduced the “Fire Balloon” aka “Fu-Go” They launched 9,300 300 were found/observed in the U.S. Ended 1945, ineffective Last Fu-Go was found in Lumby, British Columbia, in October 2014
