1 Human Dignity

2 Matthew 22:36-40 “34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.””

7 Lamentations 3:25-32 “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, / to the one who seeks him; / 26 it is good to wait quietly / for the salvation of the Lord. / 27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke / while he is young. / 28 Let him sit alone in silence, / for the Lord has laid it on him. / 29 Let him bury his face in the dust— / there may yet be hope. / 30 Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him, / and let him be filled with disgrace. / 31 For no one is cast off / by the Lord forever. / 32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, / so great is his unfailing love.”

9 Luke 14:7-9 “7 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: 8 “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.””
