Solution
Owing $6 can be represented by -6. Thus the problem becomes: -6 x +4 = -24 or (-6) (+4) = -24
Isabella owes $24

Positive x Positive = Positive
Positive x Negative = Negative
Negative x Positive = Negative
Negative x Negative = Positive
2 x 3 = 6
2 x -3 = -6
-2 x 3 = -6
-2 x -3 = 6
Note:
When you multiply a positive integer by a negative integer, the product is a negative integer.
When you multiply two negative integers, the product is a positive integer.

Owing $15 can be represented by -15. Thus the problem becomes: -15 ÷ +3 = -5

Positive ÷ Positive = Positive
Positive ÷ Negative = Negative
Negative ÷ Positive = Negative
Negative ÷ Negative = Positive
14 ÷ 7 = 2
14 ÷ -7 = - 2
-14 ÷ 7 = - 2
-14 ÷ -7 = 2
Note:
When you divide a positive integer by a negative integer, the quotient is a negative integer.
When you divide two negative integers, the quotient is a positive integer.
