Fig 2 Meta-analysis of growth factor studies. The black circles and the horizontal lines depict the risk ratios (RR) of treatment failures and their respective 95% confidence intervals (CI) of the studies included in each analysis. The vertical line in the center of the figure represents the RR of 1, where there is no difference in the outcome between the experimental and the control groups. A confidence interval that crosses this no-difference line indicates that the result of this study is not statistically significant. For growth factor trials, a meta-analysis was performed, and the overall estimate and its corresponding 95% CI are shown at the bottom of the figure.
