1 Lipoproteins

2 lipoproteins LP are spherical macromolecular complexes of lipids and specific proteins. The major components of LP are TAGs, Chol, Chol-ester, PLs, and Proteins. The protein components are called apoproteins and are designated A, B, C and E. Chylomicrons are the least dense of the blood LP because the have most TAGs and least proteins VLDL is denser than chylomicrons but still has a high content of TAGs IDL is derived from VLDL, is denser than VLDL and has less than half the amount of TAG of VLDL. LDL has less TAGs than IDL and more protein and therefore is denser than the IDL, from which is derived. (Highest content of Chol and Chol-ester). HDL densest lipoprotein, lowest TAG content, highest Protein content of all LP particles. 2
