3 To save a new file: 1) Open your word processing software, such as Microsoft Word. 2) Create a document. 3) Click on File or the Quick Access button. 4) Then click Save As. 5) Select the folder in which you would like to save your file. 6) In the “File Name” field, enter a file name that fits the specifications given by your professor, such as “Scavenger_Susan.” 7) In the “Save As Type” field, click on the drop-down menu and select (.rtf) for Rich Text Format. 8) Click Save. You will see your new file name at the top of the application window.

4 To save an existing file:
1) Open existing document in your word processing software, such as Microsoft Word. 2) Click on File or the Quick Access button. 3) Then click Save As. 4) Select the folder in which you would like to save your file. 5) In the “File Name” field, enter a file name that fits the specifications given by your professor, such as “Scavenger_Susan.” 6) In the “Save As Type” field, click on the drop-down menu and select (.rtf) for Rich Text Format. 7) Click Save. You will then see your new file name at the top of the application window.

5 To submit an assignment:
1) Locate the assignment within a lesson in Blackboard. 2) Click View/Complete Exercise. 3) Then click Click to read this file. 4) Open the document provided. 5) Type your name next to “Student Name.” 6) Type your answers directly onto this document. 7) When you have finished completing the assignment, save the document as specified in the assignment to your PC. In this assignment, the file name should start with “Functions” and an underscore. 8) In the Save as type field, use the drop-down menu and choose Rich Text Format. 9) Once you have saved the document to your PC, close the document using the X in the upper right hand corner. 10) On the assignment webpage, scroll down and locate the Browse button. 11) Click Browse to locate the file you just saved on your PC. 12) Click Open. You should now see the file name in the text box to the left of the Browse button. 13) Submit your assignment.
