Novel nuclear laser spectroscopy of RI atoms in superfluid helium: OROCHI Heavy Ion Nuclear Physics Lab. Yukari MATSUO in collaboration with T. Furukawa, Y. Matsuura, T. Kobayashi, … T. Motobayashi RIKEN, Tokyo Tech., Tohoku CYRIC, Osaka U., TUAT Optical RI-atom Observation in Condensed Helium as Ion-catcher He stopper of RI beam Laser spectroscopy + ~eV ~10-5 – 10-8eV Ion beam (radioisotope atoms) separator Accelerator RI atoms target RF/ MW (((((( RI beam Laser LIF He II “Original” method to overcome all the difficulty in traditional nuclear laser spectroscopy ・ high trapping efficiency of He II (expected to be nearly 100 %) ・ background of stray light is reduced, by the order of ・ no background from the other elements ・ observation of LIF photons repeatedly (typically 105 /s) potentially applicable to ~ 1 pps RI atoms ・ applicable to various elements other than alkali atoms For the systematic determination of nuclear spins and moments by measuring atomic Zeeman and hyperfine splittings
