2. Objectives: Expectations:
By the end of the day, you will be prepared to safely and successfully lead younger girls through age appropriate activities in partnership with their troop or unit leader. You will also meet the requirements for Step 2 of obtaining your Program Aide pin.
Expectations:
During training it is expected that you are participating, and building a “tool box” of resources to help you succeed as a leader for younger Girl Scouts.
After this training if you want to obtain your Program Aide pin you will need to complete additional activity hours with a younger troop, Day Camp unit or at a Service Unit event.

Step 3: Work with younger girls over an additional 6 activity sessions
Steps 1 & 2 are interchangeable.
How many of you have already completed the Leader in Action Award? We will talk more about what that is later for those of you who have not done that step yet.

It’s your world change it, It’s your story tell it, It’s your planet love it across all levels
You can choose to share information from the journey you are working on especially if it is related to the same series the girls are working on
LiA – if you haven’t review the brownie leader guides during lunch

Have them make cards, let them lead the group in a few of the games/songs

12. Group Dynamics: Games, Names and Keeping it all Together
Now let’s play some games you can use in your troops to get everyone involved.

13. Creating a Safe Environment
You will work with the adult troop or unit leader to plan activities and review safety activity check points
The adults needed for ratio should always stay with you and the younger girls
Ask the adult if any of the girls have special needs or accommodations
Talk to the adult about the current group dynamics (are there cliques, are some girls quieter than others, are they kind to each other, etc.)

Find new groups of 4. there should be one GIRL in each group. If we have extra girls we will help you find a group. Each group will get a scenario in a troop or Day Camp service unit and together decide how you would respond.

18. Program Aides are Role Models
Think about how you are coming to the meetings, what are you wearing, what attitude do you want to bring, be prepared to model good behavior by following all the troop rules EVEN if they are different than you are used to.

19. Using the Journey books, the what and how of the GSLE, and come up with a plan to teach younger girls an activity.

20. Checklist Talk to the adult leader you plan to work with
Work together to make a plan
Be Prepared to lead your agreed upon activities and to help any way you can
Bring your Toolbox and any other supplies you might need
Remember you are a role model, be on time, dressed for the activities you are leading, and ready to have a great time with younger girls.
