1 Waves And Tides

2 What Is A Wave? A wave is a periodic up and down movement of water.

3 What Causes Wave To Form?
Waves are cause by the energy of wind when it blows. First into ripples then into waves. The more energy a wave receive from the winds the higher the waves get. Also the less energy a wave receive the smaller the wave is. Waves can also become breakers in shallow water and eventually slow down and break. This is cause by the friction of the bottom of the wave that touches the ocean floors.

4 What are three factors that affect ocean surface currents?
Wind belts Rotational effects Location Continents

5 How many parts does a wave have?
A wave is made up of 2 crest and a trough The crest is the top part of a wave and the trough is the bottom.

6 What is the formula for wave speed.
WAVESPEED = Wavelength Period This is calculated to find out how destructive a wave is or can be.

7 What are Tides? Tides are daily change in the level of the ocean surface?

8 What Influence tides to occur?
Tides are influence by the gravitational pull of the moon on the earth and its water.

9 What is a Tsunamis or seismic waves?
Tsunamis are the most destructive waves in the world. They are so strong that they can destroy cities. They are cause by underground earthquakes and underwater land sliders. Also can move at a seed of 725km/hr and as long as 240km.

10 Things that a tsunami can do!

11 After Affects! VERY DANGEROURS Can cause many deaths
